Jennifer Amerine Heath started her career in feature films where she worked
on projects that included True Romance, Crimson Tide and The Fan.
A strong desire to move into the indie production world led Jennifer to next
take on a development role at interactive media company Sunshine Interactive.
Here she developed projects for in-house music video and commercial directors
among others. Most notably at Sunshine, Jennifer and a partner created a production
company called Conspiracy Entertainment, through which she produced two independent
feature films. Conspiracy Entertainment in association with Sunshine Filmworks
produced Sparkler, starring Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jamie Kennedy and Dill Scallion
starring Kathy Griffin and Lauren Graham.
Jennifer parlayed her work developing directors to the music video industry
where she started as a directors rep at Squeak Pictures followed by Partizan
and now at her current home @radical/music.
Dave Dean was born and raised in Jamaica, Queens. He developed a passion for
film at the age of 6, spending hours watching commercial shoots on the streets
of New York City. This inspired Dave to study film at Hampton University. During
his sophomore year, Dave began working as a production assistant on various
sets, which solidified his desire to enter into film production as his vocation.
During his film production career, Dave has earned a reputation as one of the
most sought after Assistant Directors in music video and commercials by working
extensively with the most prolific directors in the business including: F. Gary
Gray, Spike Jonze, McG, John Baptiste Mondino, Traktor, Ulf Johanson, Paul Hunter, and
Dave Meyers. Dave has also worked with many influential artists, including:
Janet Jackson, Madonna, Aerosmith, Mick Jagger, P. Diddy, Missy Elliott and
Will Smith.
Recently, Dave made his directorial debut with Sony artist Goapele for her hit
song "Closer".
After directing more than 180 videos for some of the top recording artists in
the industry, Dave Meyers has focused his considerable talents as a director
on new areas. Having found a home at @radical.media, Dave has been concentrating
on making memorable and distinctive TV commercials for a diverse group of advertisers.
Next up will be his first foray into feature film.
Meyers' list of TV commercial achievements is considerable. He helped set the
look and tone of Apple's hugely successful iPod launch with a series of award-winning
spots for TBWA\Chiat\Day, and also shot the controversial Lebron James Nike
spot that was banned in China. His current reel includes a pair of dance-infused
ads for Cingular for BBDO New York and also a campaign for Sony's PSP for TBWA\Chiat\Day.
Dave also recently completed a Chrysler car campaign that included Lee Iacocca
and Snoop Dogg.
Born and raised in Berkley, California, Dave developed his love for film while
working as a teenager for a small independent cinema. He went on to graduate
from Loyola Marymount University in Film Production and Philosophy. He found
his way to film production after having been heavily involved in the Los Angeles
independent Film Festival and a stint in script development at Paramount Pictures,
where he worked on the films Face/Off and Twilight.
In music Videos, Dave has directed the biggest names in the business. Among
the artists he's collaborated with are Jennifer Lopez, Missy Elliott, Mariah
Carey, Janet Jackson, Dave Matthews, Kid Rock, and Jay Z. As with his work in
commercials, Dave constantly seeks to find innovative ways for the artists to
define themselves on film. That work ethic and dedication has earned him a slew
of nominations and nine MTV Video Music Awards, the most recent of which was
Best Hip Hop Video and Best Dance Video for Missy Elliott's "Lose Control"
Chris Milk was born in New York. He traveled west to attend film school at the
Academy of Art College in San Francisco. While in school, Chris funded his education
as a freelance Avid editor, started a production company (Spoon Fed Films),
and won the highly respected Gold Clio Award for a student spec ad. Soon thereafter,
he was one of seven U.S. directors honored in the 2000 Saatchi & Saatchi
New Director Showcase presented at Cannes.
Advertisers like Sprite, Nintendo, and Nike have frequently tapped Chris' twisted
sense of humor and innovative visual style. He recently expanded from commercials
to music videos with his music directorial debut for English electronica sensation
The Chemical Brothers. This video was subsequently nominated for a European
MTV award and the UK's D&AD award. Since then, Chris' work has won numerous
awards including BET's Video of the Year and MTV VMA Best Male Video.
Both Mariah Garnett and Molly Schiot became friends at Brown University, more
specifically the Rhode Island Hospital's whirl pool, where both were recuperating
from major spinal surgeries.
Their first project, inspired by the vertebral column, was a black and white
short film about scar fetish, which incorporated both stop motion animation
and live action. This piece was the foundation for other works to come, such
as Peeps, a stop motion animation project using 1200 marshmallow Peeps moving
in synchronized fashion to 70's Glam Rock song The Number One Song in Heaven
by The Sparks.
Both Molly and Mariah reside in Los Angeles since signing with @radical/music.
The directing team has been busy working in both commercials and music videos,
most recently completing a video for the Sub Pop band Sleater Kinney and a commercial
campaign for Trident Gum. For inspiration, the two directors turn to cowboys,
David Bowie, and classic cars.
Malcolm was born in Kingston, Jamaica and raised in Miami. As he faced tough
surroundings and roadblocks to success, Malcolm developed a passion for filmmaking
through his addiction to Alfred Hitchcock movies. He would concoct his own music
videos with the legendary footage by using two VCRs and a radio.
Malcolm's passion and work ethic became evident to the public when he received
a film scholarship at the University of Miami. While attending college, he managed
to help raise his twin children and maintain a 3.9 average. During his junior
year, Malcolm was crowned as one of the nations most promising talents among
the future generation of filmmakers when he was awarded the Eastern Kodak Scholarship.
Since joining @radical/music, Malcolm has worked with artists that include Memphis
Bleek, Fat Joe, and Jadakiss.
Brett Simon's music videos have captured intricate narratives and visceral performances
while maintaining a strong commitment to visual experimentation. He has worked
with such bands as The Killer, Sum 41, The Walkmen, Good Charlotte, and Gavin
Degraw.
Before moving to Los Angeles, Brett taught film history and digital filmmaking
at UC Berkley. His short films and videos have appeared in festivals around
the world including Toronto, Telluride, and Resfest, where they have won several
first prizes. Kathy Geritz, who curated a program of his work for the Pacific
Film Archives writes, "Simon creates fractured fairy tales for adults with
a lush, inventive visual vocabulary that displays his passion for cinema."
Brett also directed the current opening for Saturday Night Live and recently
completed a commercial campaign for Pop Secret Popcorn.
Wormseye is a creative collective
that is comprised of four individuals whom each harbor their own super power.
Luke McCoubrey is the eye of the worm, a cinematographer, with a technical background
that allows him to anticipate his enemies' every move. Peter McCoubrey is a
director and brother to the eye, together their joined vision can see through
time and space. Adam Neustadter, fellow director, joins them like Voltron and
he becomes the all-seeing third eye, there are few who have crossed the three-eye
stare and lived to tell the tale. Ron Pants Patane is an editor, his razor sharp
wit coupled with his razor sharp blade, allowing him to always find the prerfect
balance of image and sound.
The four came up with the name Wormseye from the first short film they all did
together. It was comprised of nearly all worms eye view angles. As a joke, the
credit Wormseye Films Presents was added to the opening credit roll. A young
fellow asked if Wormseye was a phallic reference and the team knew at that instant
that they had found their little squadron name.
The four are creatively linked like a kryptonite lock and have a wide knowledge
of all aspects of filmmaking from conception to final product. They all write,
direct, shoot, produce, edit to some respect, and decide, according to the needs
of the current project, what helm each member will take. Wormseye gained MTV
recognition with their two videos for RCA artists Stellastarr*, which aired
on MTV2 and Subterranean. The team is currently directing music videos, commercials,
and films, but what they really want to do is act.
